Established to honor His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa’s directives to elevate Bahraini women’s roles in society, the Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for Bahraini Women Empowerment was created by Royal Decree No. (5) for 2004 (Arabic only). In 2019, Royal Order No. (17) updated the award’s framework, renaming it the HRH Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Award for the Advancement of Bahraini Women. The update introduced new categories for civil society organizations and individuals to better reflect national achievements. Presented biennially, the award aims to empower Bahraini women through various initiatives and celebrates accomplishments across its categories.
