Types of Services and Eligibility Criteria

Housing Request Application

This service allows citizens to submit requests for private residential units including its facilities; request for allocations of land owned by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning for the purpose of building private residential units at the citizens’ expense; or request ownership of apartments in ministry residential projects.

Application Criteria and Beneficiaries

Must be a Bahraini citizen over 21 and under 50 years of age at time of submission.

• First Category: husbands, wives, and children.
• Second Category: Parents with at least one minor Bahraini son, Bahraini wives married to expatriates with an underage Bahraini son.
• Third Category: 21-year-old single sons living with both or one of their Bahraini parents.

‘Mazaya’ Scheme Application

This service allows citizens to apply for the social housing financing scheme, ‘Mazya’, which the ministry supports by allowing beneficiaries to receive financing from participating banks. Beneficiaries pay 25% of their income as monthly installments, while the government pays the remainder of the monthly installments to the bank.

Application Criteria and Beneficiaries

Must be a Bahraini citizen between 21 and 35 years of age at time of submission.

• First Category: husbands, wives, and children.
• Second Category: parents with at least one minor Bahraini son, Bahraini wives married to expatriates with an underage Bahraini son.
• Third Category: 21-year-old single sons living with both or one of their Bahraini parents.

Financing Requests

This service enables citizens to request financing offered by the ministry which includes:

• Purchase finance: for citizens wishing to buy residential units or private apartments.
• Building finance: for citizens who wish to build residential units on owned land.
• Renovation finance: for citizens whose residential units need renovation and restoration.

Application Criteria and Beneficiaries

Must be a Bahraini citizen between 21 and 50 years of age at time of submission for purchase and building finance, and under 60 years of age for renovation finance.

Temporary Housing Application

This service enables citizens to request temporary housing.

Application Criteria and Beneficiaries

Applicants must meet the following criteria for their temporary housing requests to be accepted:

1. Bahraini citizen.
2. Between 21 and 50 years of age at time of submission.
3. Must have an existing housing service application.
4. Application must be accepted by the Housing Committee.
