Engaging all segments of the population in governmental decision processes ensures that every individual has a “voice,” fostering equitable and representative governance that leaves no one behind. This inclusive approach guarantees that diverse perspectives are considered, creating policies that truly reflect the needs of the entire community.

The Kingdom of Bahrain, committed to integrating all segments of the population in its progress, has launched various initiatives and platforms for public engagement to enhance eParticipation, contributing significantly to national development and growth.

Central to its strategy is a “citizen-centric approach” to national development, facilitated through a range of eParticipation and public engagement initiatives:

The National Suggestions & Complaints System (Tawasul): This interactive platform is designed as a comprehensive channel, allowing the public to easily and conveniently interact with governmental entities for suggestions, complaints, or inquiries. Tawasul incorporates numerous technical features that efficiently streamline the government entities' case-handling processes within a clearly defined Service-Level Agreement (SLA). The Tawasul platform is also available as an app on bahrain.bh/apps

Idea Generation & Co-Creation Initiatives: Bahrain's government has initiated various programs to stimulate ideation and public involvement in the enhancement of government and public services nationwide. These initiatives include the Government Innovation Competition (Fikra) by the Prime Minister’s Office, a range of Hackathons, and the Al Mustashar eService within the eShabab mobile App.

Digital Innovation Awards: The Bahraini government has established several competitive award programs to promote and recognize innovation in public and community services. These include the eGovernment Excellence Award by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA), aimed at encouraging digital transformation and innovation in both the public and private sectors, as well as recognizing the best individual concepts. Additionally, the Digital Prosperity Awards by the Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (TRA) celebrate achievements in digital transformation across government, business, and non-profit sectors. Furthermore, the King Hamad Youth Empowerment Award acknowledges global youth initiatives in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), underlining Bahrain's commitment to global development and youth empowerment.
