Private Sector Employment
The Ministry of Labour keeps abreast of the needs of the labor market to help Bahraini citizens find rewarding full time job opportunities.
Its Employment Services Bureau supports the employment of citizens seeking jobs in the private sector by trying to match them with available job opportunities. It offers career guidance and counselling, coordinating with human resource departments in private sector organizations and with Labour fund Tamkeen, which offers training support to equip them with the skills required by the private sector.
Its key services include:
- Jobseekers registration
- Evaluation of orientation programme
- Job candidate nomination and employment
- Hiring national and GCC talent
The unemployed receive monthly financial support (unemployment insurance (Arabic only)) throughout the period they are unemployment once they register with MLSD. The jobseekers are supported with professional guidance and counselling until they find suitable jobs.
Private sector workers can report any violations of their rights during their work via the Labour Complaints Reporting Service in order to ensure their rights are protected, Consensual and legal solutions are provided to resolve these complaints.
On-The-Job Training (Furas) Program
The On-the-Job Training Program (Furas) of the Ministry of Labour provides Bahraini youth with the opportunity to gain practical experience in a variety of professions in the private sector. The program, which lasts anywhere from 6 to 12 months, pairs job seekers with employers who are willing to provide training, to help young people develop their skills, enhance their knowledge and refine their experiences to make them more competitive in the labour market and make Bahraini youth the ideal choice for employment.
