- Decree No. (5) of 2002 (PDF, 446KB, 13 pages, Arabic only) approving accession to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
The decree included the accession of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Convention, which enshrines the concept of gender equality in domestic legislation, the abolition of all discriminatory provisions in the laws of the state parties, and the need for states to take steps in eliminating all forms of discrimination practiced against women by individuals, institutions, and organisations. - Law No. (15) of 2010 (PDF, 109KB, 5 pages, Arabic only) approving the amendment of Paragraph (1) of Article (20) of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
It includes approval of the amendment of Paragraph (1) of Article (20) of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, in accordance with the decision taken by the state parties of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women on 22nd May, 1955, accompanying this law. - Decree-Law No. (70) of 2014 (PDF, 100KB, 2 pages, Arabic only) amending some provisions of Decree-Law No. (5) of 2002 approving accession to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women.
The amendment includes reformulating the reservations to the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution, and to ensure the implementation of the Convention without prejudice to the provisions of the Islamic Sharia. - Law No. (17) of 2015 (PDF, 96KB, 8 pages) regarding protection from domestic violence.
To protect families, the Family Guidance Office at the Ministry of Social Development or the centers licensed by the Ministry will provide family counseling services and awareness on violence, and take the necessary measures to reduce family violence, in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, by developing curricula that promote a culture that rejects domestic violence. - Law No. (19) of 2017 (PDF, 391KB, 31 pages) with respect to the promulgation of the family law.
The law deals with the provisions of engagement and marriage and their implications for the Sunni and Jaafari sects. - A law that allows working mothers in all government entities to work from home during the Corona pandemic (PDF, 93.1KB, 1 page, Arabic only).
