Bahrain Customs Affairs helps keep the Kingdom secure by monitoring goods from abroad, and:

• Significantly contributes to the national economy
• Promotes legitimate travel and trade
• Prevents the entry of prohibited and restricted substances
• Secures land, air, and sea borders

In line with policies aimed at modernization, the Customs Affairs Strategy 2021-2024 (PDF, 9.55MB, 136 pages, Arabic only) was created to ensure harmony among Bahrain Customs Affairs, the government’s objectives, and the policies of the World Customs Organisation. The customs process begins upon visitors’ arrival and the completion of Nationality, Passports & Residence Affairs procedures. These may include inspections of luggage, cars, ships, and yachts. Commercial goods are transferred to relevant departments for clearance.

Bahrain Customs Officers are Stationed at the Following Points of Entry

• Bahrain International Airport and other air transport facilities
• Khalifa Bin Salman Port and other sea transport facilities
• King Fahd Causeway and other land transport facilities

Prohibited and Restricted Items

To promote legitimate trade and a safer society, goods imported or exported across the borders of the Kingdom are subject to local regulations, laws, and international agreements and treaties. This applies to imports and exports, including personal and commercial items.
