The ID Card project is one of a series of flagship projects initiated by the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) that brings about substantial developments in the government performance. The ID Card project is a Bahraini aspiration towards a better future for the Kingdom and aims to provide better tools for procuring electronic government services which are available and provided to citizens.
The card contains a number of technical and security features that prevent tampering, including a microchip that stores all the basic details of the individual. The ID card also includes the data used in the individual’s passport, population registry, and driving license, in addition to the fingerprint, photo and signature of its holder.
The latest version of the ID card was issued with unique modern design and use advanced technologies, in line with the international standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).
