National Surveys: Setting Global Benchmarks in Data Excellence

National Surveys

Have you ever wondered how nations ensure the accuracy of their data? National Surveys, executed to top international standards, stand as beacons of credibility.

In the Kingdom of Bahrain, national surveys epitomize a commitment to data precision and international excellence. Rigorously crafted and accredited, these surveys set the benchmark for accuracy, going beyond raw numbers to unveil nuanced insights that redefine decision-making within the Kingdom. Serving as pillars of rigor and relevance, national surveys are seamlessly integrated into Bahrain's information systems, providing a robust foundation for strategic planning and contributing to the nation's trajectory with clarity and confidence.

The Statistics & Population Registry sector at the Information & eGovernment Authority (iGA) overarches and steers the national survey development. iGA has been continuously rolling out national surveys such as population censuses, foreign investment surveys, price surveys, tourism surveys, health surveys, and other statistical projects, with the aim to provide accurate national data and statistics that reinforce the national and international economic and social indicators and add value to the national strategic plans of the government. These surveys will not only capture the pulse of Bahrain but will also contribute to elevating data gathering on an international scale.

The Household Income and Expenditure Survey 2024 is one of the crucial and most important surveys of the national economy, conducted every ten years on a national scale. Bahrain has been committed to conducting this survey since 1974 and the last has been carried out in 2014. It is the largest and most detailed survey that measures the standard of living in Bahrain and it is used by decision-makers to shape government policies and programs that have ultimate benefits to citizens and residents.

Bahrain was the first country in the region to replace the traditional method by using national administrative records from different ministries and government bodies. Thanks to the centralized national data and data integration, Bahrain pioneers the region in conducting national surveys, such as Population Census, Housing, Buildings, and Establishments, from administrative records. This innovative methodology streamlined the agility and data accuracy of the national surveys. With this approach, Bahrain was the first country in the Gulf region to complete the Population Census 2020 successfully during the COVID-19 pandemic challenges.

In a world where informed insights shape the Kingdom's future, national surveys in Bahrain will emerge as indispensable tools, fostering trust and impact. Beyond numerical significance, these surveys embody a commitment to unveiling truths and defining standards that empower Bahrain to navigate the complexities of a data-driven future with clarity and confidence.
