Holy Quran Affairs

The Ministry of Justice, Islamic Affairs and Waqf’ Holy Quran Affairs (Arabic only) manages all matters related to the Holy Quran and related institutions and centres. This includes granting licenses to Quranic centres and sessions (halaqa) and supervising them, setting their educational curricula, improving their performance, implementing scientific, educational, and cultural programmes and activities, and cooperating with official authorities and civil society institutions in the service of the Holy Quran.

Holy Quran Affairs’s tasks include:

  • Developing centres’ workplans and programs and supervising their implementation
  • Developing and implementing plans and curricula to improve Quranic centres and raise their technical and educational performance
  • Developing and implementing regulations and operating procedures for centres and sessions, and applying the ones that have been approved
  • Following up on all the administrative, financial, and technical work of centres and sessions
  • Setting performance standards to use in the evaluation of Quranic centres, circles, and their affiliates
  • Organising the Bahrain Holy Quran Grand Prix for memorisation, Recitation, and Interpretation of the Holy Quran, as well as continuously improving the competition
  • Representing the Kingdom of Bahrain in international Holy Quran competitions and striving to achieve advanced positions in them
  • Participating in forums and gatherings related to the Holy Quran within Bahrain and abroad
  • Planning and implementing programmes and activities that enhance the positive relationship between Quranic centers and community members
  • Reviewing Holy Qurans and related books in coordination with the Quran Review Committee
